Stepping out of the shadows

Stepping out of the shadows
Looking up to someone is a natural and expected process. However, as women we need to step out of the shadows in order to excel and put our own unique stamp that will represent the woman we truly are. We need to take lessons from those that have walked similar journeys, as these lessons are priceless and will be a valuable guide that will lead us onto the path of our own desired personal journey.
I often wonder what my emotional status is, am I emotionally rich or emotionally poor? Leading to the question of what can I do about it?  The cupboards may be full the bank account healthy but the true measure of wealth is peace of mind.  Real peace is when a woman can sit back and enjoy a nice cup of tea (or glass of wine) and enjoy the wealth they have emotionally.  For emotional wealth is the foundation of good and lasting relationships which are essential in living a fully enjoyable and fulfilling life.
I have often used a mantra. I call it the four R process. I reflect, reassess, react and reboot. This has served me well in my personal journey. My journey was at the beginning one which I thought I was in control of. Until circumstances beyond my control made me reflect. I had to change a few things on my “list of things I wanted to do”. My list has now become one that encompass having seed faith. Having the faith of a child, because when all else fails, hope, faith and the Grace of God remains. My journey sees me wanting to contribute to making the world a better place.  I am happily involved in researching how women living with HIV cope with their mental health, and guiding stakeholders with recommendations to efficiently put into place policy that will be supportive to HIV physico-social wellbeing services.  It’s humbling and rewarding work.

Ladies I urge you to spare a few minutes in your already busy diary and take stock.  Let’s reflect and reassess.  Let’s be brutally honest about how we are spending our talents, time and what our purpose is.  What are we doing to make the world a better place?  Then as wonderfully Deeply Driven women we can react accordingly.  I will leave you with a challenge – when you are ready to reboot, choose to become the version of the true rare gem that lies inside of you and thrive!
